Reasons to Exercise and Get Healthy

Would you rather be watching your favorite show on television or taking a 30 minute jog? Most people do not get the recommended amount of exercise per day. The amount of exercise a person should have per day is 30 minutes. This is extremely easy if you think about it. Set aside 30 minutes after work or before a shower to run on a treadmill or take a jog around the block.

Benefits to Exercising

An obvious benefit would be losing weight. Exercise is one of the biggest helps of weight loss. You burn calories when you exercise which reduces weight. Remember, 30 minutes of exercise per day will help you stay healthy and fit.

Exercise also helps fight off diseases. Regularly exercising can help reduce your chances for heart disease. Another great thing it does is help manage your blood pressure and cholesterol. Exercising regularly help increase the “good” cholesterol in your body which helps your blood run nice and smooth.

Improving your mood is another benefit to regular exercise. Exercise is proven to lighten your mood after a stressful day. Exercise also make you feel great and look good, which, in turn, will improve confidence and boost self-esteem. It also helps prevent depression.

Exercise can increase your energy level. Exercise keeps you in shape, which allows you to have more energy. Exercising daily helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. When your cardiovascular system works better, your heart and lungs work better and when these work better, you do!

Daily physical activity can help you sleep better. If you can’t sleep and night or if you wake up during the night, physical activity may be something you need to do. Sleep is very vital for your body. When you get a good night’s sleep you are more focused and productive. Exercising can help you fall asleep at night faster and put you in a deeper sleep so you will be ready for the next day.

How Can I Exercise?

Maybe the hardest thing about exercising is starting out. When you first start your muscles will ache and cramp for a few weeks. This is not a bad thing. It just means they haven’t been used in this way and are getting stronger already. Being sore the day after a two mile run is a normal thing when you haven’t done it in a while.

Set goals for yourself. This is probably the easiest way to start. When I get home after a long day I usually take a two mile jog. That’s right. Everyday I run two miles. This may seem extremely hard at first but to me it is a piece of cake. Why? Because I have been running for a very long time. Long distances are extremely easy for me to run. I started by setting goals for myself. Small goals will get you a long way.
