Stop Feeling Hungry: Feel Full Throughout the Day

If you feel hungry all the time don’t worry, you aren’t alone. Plenty of people start to feel hungry after just a few hours of eating and it’s not because you aren’t eating enough, it’s because you aren’t eating the right kinds of foods. There are plenty of ways to stop feeling hungry, but some of them are just complete bullshit. I’m here to teach you how to do it right, but first I’m going to educate you as to why you feel hungry all the time, so if you don’t like boring, vital information skip this next paragraph.

I’m going to put this as plain and simple as I can. The reason you start to feel hungry is because your blood sugar level drops. The only way to increase your blood sugar level is to eat because once you eat your pancreas starts producing the insulin you need to make body cells to use glucose. Processed foods, which are broken down by your body quickly, cause your pancreas to produce more insulin than needed. Your body then uses all the sugar and causes your blood sugar level to drop, thus you feeling hungry. While you have tons of insulin in your blood, fat will not be used as energy. Therefore you will not burn any fat and it keeps you feeling hungry. Usually double negatives cancel out, but not this time. If you want to stop feeling hungry you are going to have to change what you eat. Below are some great ways to stop feeling hungry all the time.

The first thing you are going to want to do is stop eating processed foods. One word for you: wholegrain. You want to eat wholegrain cereal, pasta, and bread, whatever you can find. Wholegrains are great because your body will break them down slowly; making your pancreas release insulin very slowly and if you read the paragraph above, you will come to the conclusion that you will stop feeling hungry. You will also come to the conclusion that because you don’t have a high amount of insulin in your body you have the possibility of losing weight.

Put down that soda! Stop drinking drinks that are high in sugar. Obviously, drinking drinks that are high in sugar will cause your body to have high amounts of insulin. You don’t want too much and you don’t want too little. You want that perfect amount. To achieve this, start drinking water and plenty of it. There are tons of benefits of drinking water! It’s going to be hard to start, but once you are used to it, it should be pretty easy to keep going.

Try to avoid eating very many foods that have low fat and high sugar content. Low fat does not make you less fat, so delete that theory from your brain. It isn’t a way to stop feeling hungry either. The only exception is low fat daily products.

The most obvious thing to do is avoid eating sweets and junk food. It’s not called junk food for nothing. However, if you want to enjoy your favorite desert once in a while that’s OK, just don’t freak out and eat a whole cake. Actually, you could put slices of fruit or nuts on top of the cake. That way you won’t feel so bad about eating it.

If you’ve read some of the other articles about weight loss and building muscle you’ll notice that I’ve said to eat 5-6 smaller meals per day rather than 3 big ones. Eating more small meals per day helps keep you more full throughout the day. It also prevents you from overeating, which, in turn, helps you lose weight. These spread out meals will make you stop feeling hungry and also make you more energetic. Just make sure these are healthy meals.

Have you ever heard someone say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Well, I completely agree with them! Seriously, eat after you wake up and don’t eat crap. No doughnuts, pop-tarts, sugary cereal (whole-grain if you do), or those things you put in the toaster and then put pounds of frosting on. Eat oatmeal. It’s probably the healthiest most filling thing you could eat for breakfast. I love oatmeal; it tastes great and doesn’t take too long to make! You can get tons of different kinds depending on preference. Plus, you could even throw your own spin on it and put fruits, cinnamon, oats, even peanut butter in it. Totally customizable.

One thing I want to touch on real quick is it takes a few minutes to not feel hungry after eating. The nutrition isn’t absorbed the second you swallow the food. Give it at least 15-20 minutes to kick in. Not waiting can cause you to overeat!

This is probably the hardest way to stop feeling hungry because usually when you feel hungry you head over to the chip stash and start munching on chips. Now that you’re on a healthy diet, you can’t do that. Instead, you should find something that will take your mind off the hunger. This is a great time to find a hobby you like. You could take up knitting and knit your mom some mittens, or a home sweet home sign. I bet she’ll like that.

So now that all of these ways to stop feeling hungry are stuck in your head, it’s time to apply them. It’s probably going to be really hard at first, but once you make the transaction it only gets easier with time. The best piece of advice I can give here is just to eat healthier. You won’t stop feeling hungry or lose weight by eating Burger King and starving yourself. Stay away from those sugary foods. They do you no good. Do a little bit more research on healthy eating. There are tons of articles that will help you do that here.
