Eating Healthier: Reason Why People Don’t Eat Healthy and Why You Should


So, you didn’t listen to your mother when she said “Eat your vegetables, honey.” Now you are sitting here asking yourself why you did’nt listen to her. Take a look at the food pyramid below and ask yourself if you eat this healthy per day.

Why don’t people eat healthy? Well, there are 5 reasons, or excuses in my opinion, why people don’t eat healthy.



1. Availability


How easy is it to walk into a fast food place and get food? Pretty easy. Sometimes you don’t even have to walk in. You can just use the drive through. When you want something healthy you usually have to make it yourself. People can get lazy and not have any desire to make their own meals. Making your own meals is a good start to eating healthier.


2. Cost


Everybody knows fast food is cheap and affordable. With dollar menus you can get an entire meal for less than 5 dollars. On the other hand, healthy food costs more. Meat products alone cost more than a fast food meal. Some people just don’t have the money to buy healthy food all of the time.


3. Confusion


Confusion is a big factor of why people aren’t eating healthier. Not knowing what is healthy and what is not healthy is an example. Eating a salad at a fast food restaurant may not be as healthy as eating one from a grocery store. Even when you do get one at a grocery store, do you pile ranch dressing on the top. Knowing what is good for you and what is not good can help solve this problem.



4. Time


Like I said before it is extremely easy to get fast food. Take 10 minutes out of your day and take a drive to a fast food place and pick up some cheeseburgers. Now, take 30 minutes to an hour out of your day to cook yourself some decently healthy food. Which one seems easier? Of course, fast food does. That’s why it’s called fast food. Eliminating fast food from your diet is a good start to eating healthier.


5. Taste


You can’t find very many people that like brussel sprouts more than fast food. Even though fast food tastes good there are many meals out there that taste even better than fast food. Think about it; fruits and vegetables can taste very good and they’re healthy too!
