Signs of Addiction: Finding the Source of Addiction

What is a negative addiction? And what are signs of addictions? Negative addictions are an addiction that causes more harm than benefit. These are the type of addictions that everyone thinks of when someone says the word “addictions”. Below is a small list of negative addictions. There are many more besides these because anything that you are addicted to that causes you too much harm is a negative addiction.

• Adrenaline
• Alcohol
• Drugs
• Food
• Gambling
• Nicotine
• Pornography
• Sex
• Shopping
• Smoking
• Sugar
• Video Games
• Work

This is a pretty long list for being a short list of negative addictions. It really is possible for anything to become a negative addiction as long as the harm is greater than the benefit, but these are the most popular things people become negatively addicted to.

Pleasure is one of the highest reasons for signs of addictions. This is what keeps people negatively addicted. Adrenaline is the big thing that causes the pleasure. People use addictions to trigger adrenaline in the body which makes them feel good.

Signs of Negative Addictions

Only the person with the negative addiction can be the one to experience the signs of negative addictions. You have no idea what they are feeling unless they tell you what they are feeling. If you think someone may have any type of negative addictions you should look for any of the following signs of negative addictions and symptoms.

• Changes in Mood
• Sleeping pattern changes
• Change in energy
• Change in wieght
• Feeling aick at times
• Coughing or sniffling a lot
• Change of pupil size
• Being secret
• Lying
• Stealing
• Financial changes
• Social group changes
• Repeatedly going out
• Possession of tools used for drugs
• Possession of drugs

Many people think if they see someone with one of these signs they are negatively addicted to something. That is like saying “because you don’t like broccoli, you hate all vegetables”. It doesn’t work that way. People with negative addictions usually experience multiple signs of addictions. Sometimes normal people, mostly teenagers, experience at least one sign of addictions without being addicted to something. Because of that, telling if your teenager has an addiction can be quite difficult. If you feel they may have a negative addiction you should confront them and ask them if something is up.
