Benefits of Water: Benefits of Drinking Water


If you have read any of our other articles regarding nutrition or weight loss, you may have noticed that the essential amount of water you want to drink, per day, is 7-8 8oz glasses. Water can be provided in many different ways including tap, bottled, and distilled. Distilled water is the purest form of any drinking water. Since our bodies are made up of approximately 60 percent water, it is very valuable in maintain balance in our bodies. Many people do not enjoy drinking water and prefer other drinks instead. Water provides a multitude of benefits to different parts of our bodies that other beverages do not.

Benefits to Our Heart

The human heart beats over 2 billion times in our lifetime. Water helps our heart work less because it keeps the blood thin enough to get through the heart without causing very much stress. Other drinks may cause our blood to get thicker, which makes it harder to pump.

Benefits to Our Skin

Every cell in our skin needs water to function effectively. If you don’t drink enough water per day your skin becomes dehydrated. If the skin is dehydrated it becomes un-moist and dry. Help your skin become beautiful by drinking your 7 glasses a day.

Benefits to Our Kidneys

85 percent of our brains are made up of water, which means water helps our brains function more efficiently. It is possible to actually dehydrate your brain by not having enough water. Forgetfulness is a sign that your brain may be dehydrated.

As you can tell water benefits us in many ways. If you are like most people and don’t drink water because you don’t like the taste, try putting a lemon slice in it. You also have the opportunity to go to a grocery store and pick up a variety of flavored waters. There should be no excuse to not drinking water and getting all of these wonderful benefits.
